16th Annual Earth Day Cleanup

The Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool held our 16th Annual Earth Day clean-up today at the Hales Corners Park & Pool (33 acres) including the pool house basement.

An awesome turnout today for the 16th annual Friends of Hales Corners Pool & Park cleanup. You couldn’t ask for better weather today, and were blessed to have approximately 50 volunteers show up, ranging from Boy Scouts from four different troops (221, 530, 574 & 595), members of a church group, community members, and several Whitnall students from all levels: elementary, middle and high school.

Special thanks to Bob Stollenwerk, who helped co-chair today’s cleanup with Board Member Mike Seavert, along with Donald Schwartz, Friends of HC Park & Pool President. Also, thanks to Eileen Valaitis who provided 2.5 yards of mulch for two flower beds out in front. We also had the gift of new Hales Corners residents Jerry and Katie Johnson from MKE Property Detailing, who donated equipment and services to power-wash remove rust and grime from the pool deck, brick walls and a couple of benches, pool house, and kiddy pool area.

Many thanks to everyone else who showed up and helped clean the pool, the outdoor locker rooms, the fencing area around the pool, the kiddy pool area, the tennis court, basketball court, and both parking lots, all in three hours. All of your efforts are much appreciated, and the park looks in much better shape, with the pool scheduled to open on June 16th.

We had over 50 volunteers show up to help keep Hales Corners Park the cleanest park in Milwaukee County.

The Friends provided lunch with hot dogs on the grill, chips, and water.

A big thank you to all, we’re grateful to you and so is the Village of Hales Corners and the surrounding communities.

Job well done!
