Development Agreement with the Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool

Our projects experienced a tremendous setback from January 2015 to September 19, 2019, while Milwaukee County Parks conducted a comprehensive financial examination.

Although our organization faced unfounded allegations of financial impropriety, including from a local radio personality, we remained steadfast in our commitment to our mission, fueled by our unwavering dedication and the 16-1 vote from Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors confirmed the integrity of the Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool.

Then, in January 2023, our Milwaukee County Supervisor in District 9 led the effort to terminate our projects despite the fact that 20 months remained on our development agreement with Milwaukee County Parks.

This experience has underscored the need for reform of the Milwaukee County Parks model, and we firmly believe that the establishment of a separate Parks district is crucial to driving transformative growth and working collaboratively with local partners.

Great news to share:
The Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors voted 16-1 this morning to approve the Development Agreement with the Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool for our projects – the Alyson Dudek International Ice Center and the Jerry and Dorothy Holz Family Outdoor Shelter projects in Hales Corners Park.
