Honored to be an invited guest at the annual Hales Corners American Legion Christmas party at Clifford’s.
I’m especially honored to be pictured with Willie Mastopietro, United States Army, age 93 until December 19 when he will be 94 years young.
Willie was at Normandy Beach on June 6, 1944, and was five foot six inches tall at that time and he was strapped with sixty pounds of gear, a rifle and grenades.
Willie was dropped in the water and dug his tip toes onto the ocean floor and proceeded to walk several feet underwater until he reached the sand on the beach.
The rest is history. A great personal story from WWII!
