Refurbished Sand Volleyball Court

Even though the Hales Corners Pool isn’t open this summer, at least there’s now a refurbished sand volleyball court for all to enjoy at Hales Corners Park. A contractor spent the past two days at the park sifting through and removing the weeds, laying down new sand, and touching up the poles by giving them a fresh coat of primer and paint.

Before any naysayers out there criticize by saying “they don’t have money to open the pool, but they have money to do this”….know the facts first. The sand volleyball court refurbish was paid for by the Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool organization through money that has been fundraised and NOT with tax dollars through the county. Maintenance work on the volleyball court area has been lacking, which is shown from the before and after photos. However, our Friends group felt the work needed to be done, and the Parks Dept. gave our Friends group approval to pay for and have this work done. Even though the pool is not open for a fourth straight summer, the Friends group continues to put in the effort to be a partner with Milwaukee County Parks to make park amenities continue to look presentable and usable.

The Friends DO NOT budget for and operate the pool, that is done through Milwaukee County Parks. Please continue to contact your county supervisor and officials at the County Parks system for your concerns about not having Hales Corners Pool open and continue to advocate for having it open. But in the meantime, enjoy a place to play volleyball.
