Update: Ethan’s Run
The First Annual Ethan’s Run Against Addiction in Konkel Park in the City of Greenfield was a huge success Saturday morning, June 9, 2018. The Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool are humbled and proud to have been involved with the planning of this event starting in the first week of January of this year.
For a first time event we had over 760 runners and walkers participate and 2007 Whitnall graduate, Nick Limoni and former team mate to Ethan and my son, Matt, won the race.
In addition, many other Whitnall grads, including several ladies won their age group. The different age group winners went up to age 80. It was fantastic to see so many former and current students participate as well as with dozens of parents from the school district.
Gene Mueller from 620 WTMJ was the emcee and did a wonderful job.
Special thanks to Race Director, Richard Dodd, (pictured with me), the Aurora Health Care Foundation, including Judi Strout, an officer with the Foundation, Greenfield Mayor Mike Neitzke, the Greenfield Police and Fire Department, the Greenfield DPW, the Greenfield Parks and Recreation Department, and volunteers from the Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool, including Suzanne Lirette Schwartz, Jennine Sonntag and Mike Seavert, who manned the water station at 67th and Edgerton Ave.
Also, special thanks to my good friend, Richard Moze, who is a long time Greenfield resident and on the school board who volunteered his time before heading over to Greenfield high school for the graduation ceremony.
In addition, a huge thank you to all of our sponsors from the Village of Hales Corners, including the Veterans Memorial Committee, Parks Edge Preschool, the Rotary Club of WhitnallPark, Suburban Asphalt in Franklin and to especially to ra smith in Brookfield, for their very generous donations. Also, thank you to Legacy Day Spa for providing several gift certificates for prizes.
All of the funds raised (over $35,000.00) will go to the Aurora Opiate Recovery Fund to assist families who are struggling with the opioid epidemic, which is touching every community all across the nation. We are one step closer to eradicating the opioid crisis.
Finally, Ethan’s parents, Jeff and Robin and his sister Deva, worked tirelessly to make the First Annual Ethan’s Run Against Addiction a success and they exceeded all of our expectations!
