To encourage the community to spend more time outdoors during the winter months, Community Alliance is excited to announce that Safe Strides is back in Greendale and Hales Corners! Thanks to donations from local businesses, we can provide reflective safety vests and light-up dog collars so you (and your furry friends) can be outdoors safely.
Seasonal depression is more than just the “winter blues.” It’s a form of depression that happens during a specific time of year as days become shorter and darker. SAD is the brain’s response to the seasonal changes in daylight.
Some symptoms of SAD can include:
- Feeling sad, depressed, discouraged, hopeless, irritable
- Loss of interest
- Low energy and sleeping more than usual
- Lack of concentration
Some ways to combat symptoms of SAD can include:
- Getting plenty of exercise and spending time outdoors
- Drinking water and maintaining a healthy diet
- Going to bed and getting up at the same time each day
Reflective Vests and/or dog collars can be picked up at the following locations while supplies last:
Greendale Public Health Department

8 am-4:30 pm, M-F
Hales Corners Health Department
5551 S 108th St., Hales Corners
8 am-5 pm, M-F
