SPECIAL PROGRAM
ORSON WELLES’ WAR OF THE WORLDS
Presented by GREG JENKS, Retired Educator and Speaker for Osher Lifelong Learning Institute
October 30, 7:00 p.m.
Ben Hunt Room of the Hales Corners Library 116th & Janesville Road
On this night 86 years ago, radio listeners across the U.S. heard a startling report of mysterious creatures and terrifying war machines moving toward New York City. Greg will retell the story of Welles’ rise to fame, and his innovative radio drama. Significant portions of the broadcast will be played, and we will discuss “fake news” programs and whether War of the Worlds actually caused mass hysteria.
