The Power of Public-Private Partnerships: Hales Corners Park Sand Volleyball Court

Good Afternoon, Milwaukee County Parks,

I hope you are doing well.

A remarkable collaboration between the Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool and Milwaukee County Parks has transformed the volleyball sand court at Hales Corners Park, showcasing the power of public-private partnerships.

Please see the pictures below.

On Friday, September 6, 2024, this dynamic duo celebrated the completion of a project that leveraged their combined expertise and diligence to overcome record rainfall and excessive weed growth.

By subcontracting the project to the highly recommended Rodriguez Landscape, they demonstrated the value of teamwork and strategic partnerships.

Notably, this sand volleyball court, built nine years ago by the Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool, has been revitalized. The history of the volleyball court is deeply intertwined with the community, having served as the site of the temporary community Ice Rink every winter from 2013 to 2021.

Installation of the ice rink is dependent on proper winter weather conditions. We will know more in November if we can install it for the 2024-2025 winter season.

The Veterans Memorial, dedicated in 2012, stands proudly in the background.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best regards,

Donald G. Schwartz

PS: I copied a few of our Friends’ key donors on this communication so they can be updated that, despite setbacks, we are still going strong as we approach our 22nd year of advocacy in February on behalf of Hales Corners Park & Pool.

Later this month, our Friend’s new website will be completed.

Thank you. DGS
